You can reach Quintamar from Faro airport on the motorway in about 40 minutes. Sevilla airport is about 2 hours drive away.

Car hire is recommended in order to discover the area but is not essential as all amenities are reached within 15 minutes by foot.

Bicycles are an ideal way to get around and can be hired easily.

The trains are getting better and better. More and more of our guests are coming by train. We can help you find out the best ways to get to us by train from central Europe.

Beaches

From the bridge to Tavira island a miniature train brings you to Barril beach, a former tuna fishing residence, now offering refreshment and food in two cafes.

During summer months a water taxi service takes passengers from Santa Luzia to Terra Estreita beach on Tavira Island.

The quality of sea water is one of the best in Europe, local beaches qualify for the EU blue flag. Low and high tide enriches the experience of this natural spot. Barril beach is always popular but never gets too overcrowded, if you seek more privacy just keep walking along the beach to the right. The left hand side brings you to the Santa Luzia beach, Terra Estreita and eventually after about 45 minutes walk to the Isla Tavira which is as far as one can walk without getting wet. The island continues on the other side of the breakwater towards Cabanas.

Where to buy food

There is a wonderful market held in Tavira selling everything from meat and fish to spices and fruit and vegetables. The market is open every day except for a Sunday. In the village of Santa Luzia there are smaller convenience stores selling everyday essentials as well as food cupboard stables. 12 minutes drive away you will find a large Lidl supermarket.

Eat and Drink

The fishing village of Santa Luzia can be reached from Quintamar in ten minutes’ walk. The nearby historic town of Tavira with cafés and restaurants offers entertainment and culture.
